FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NANCY HAMMOND EDITIONS POSTER OPENING ANNAPOLIS ONCE AGAIN
Nancy Hammond is back in Annapolis with her 2015 Limited Edition Annual Poster Opening on Saturday October 25 2014
The new poster opening will be held at the location of her new gallery, Nancy Hammond Editions, at 192 West Street, Annapolis, Md.
The poster, Rookery for Two, is unveiled in advertisements and in the window of the new gallery just a week before the opening. Until then, it is kept a secret.
Since the new gallery is still under construction, the opening will be made possible by the O'Callaghan's Hotel which is located next door to the new Nancy Hammond Editions gallery.
Serving a taste of their trademark Irish fare, the hotel's John Barry Room, just off the sidewalk, will provide the hospitality that usually accompanies Nancy Hammond's annual openings.
Albert Montone, General Manager of O'Callaghan's Hotel, one of a small group of Irish-based hotels, says,
"We are so pleased that Nancy Hammond's Gallery is moving next door to us. "We will provide the hospitality to make her poster opening a celebratory and fun affair. We are planning signature Irish treats for her to offer on her poster opening day."
After having her gallery on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake for several years, Hammond has come back to Annapolis where her first gallery created a stir. Her annual poster became a phenomenon.
Hammond's annual poster openings have become much anticipated with patrons vying for one of the limited editions each year. Hammond says, "We felt that the long lines of patrons sleeping on the sidewalks, was a little dicey. When I would show up at ten o'clock in the morning, people would be sitting up in their sleeping bags, sipping coffee, block after block. So we made it one price for the whole first day so no one would feel they had to hurry and wait. But it still can sell out."
Kate Hammond, Nancy Hammond's gallery manager and also her daughter-in-law, says, "It's a limited edition print and signed by Nancy so it's going to be always in demand. She has many devoted patrons on both sides of the bay. This is the 6th poster she has created for the Chesapeake region. Each poster shows a different imaginative approach to Bay subjects."
Besides curiosity, there is a reason patrons hurry to be at the gallery on the day the poster is released: their pocketbooks. The price rises as the limited edition sells out.
The price is $75.00 all day, the first day, for in-person sales; the next day the price begins at $200 and climbs higher from there.
Phone and email orders are taken, starting the next day,
Sunday, October 26,and continue till all posters are sold out.
Nancy Hammond says,
" We feel very very lucky to have O'Callaghans helping us with our poster opening. We were beginning to wonder how to make this tradition continue this year. The construction, the permits and architectural and mechanical drawings of the gallery all took time. Our plan for the gallery evolved over many months.
We want it to be a special place for Chesapeake lovers. There are now two new works of Annapolis I created for our return."
The new Nancy Hammond Editions gallery, is officially opening sometime within the next few weeks.
"We're on pins and needles," says Kate Hammond. "Nancy keeps creating new works and with each one she tells me that it will be perfect for the window!"
"We are going to have a big new show and party after Christmas; all tropical, and just what everyone needs on a grey January day."
